Because the scripts run on different cores (on my system), I'm not seeing any performance impact at all of my scripts on FPS, so you can really go to town with creative joystick mappings. If you have controls that don't move very far from stop to stop - use full non-linear settings for that axis. It weights the center position with more movement so that moving the control results in less control surface movement around the center position which reduces the responsiveness of the aircraft to small movements. Selecting it will open the Presets management options. The three sliders in the upper right of this window control the response curves for the pitch, roll, and yaw axes of the joystick. After assigning that bar to throttle and moving it through its range of motion several times, it will turn green. A ton of people will finally be playing Microsoft Flight Simulator. And if you're jumping into a flight sim for the first time, you're probably doing so with an Xbox controller. If your flight controls are not behaving as you believe they should, see the article entitled My Joystick or Yoke Isnt Working. To modify the joystick's sensitivity, press the Control Response button at the bottom of the Joystick settings screen. That lets you also change things like custom response curves, mapping two axes from different devices to a single output based on mode (which XP can't do), or mapping a single real input to multiple outputs, and of course, generating keyboard macros from buttons. You have been a great help! Can anyone give me advice on this? The downside, of course, is that as X-Plane adds stability, the aircraft becomes less responsive (and less realistic). I forgot to add one thing about profiles in case you start to use them. Please note, accounts less than 4 days old cannot post or comment. Otherwise the planes can run out of trim unexpectedly, due to X-Plane "adding" some control input for the stability. For instance, before the throttle axis has been configured, moving the throttle might move a red bar. Try these settings. I think for other aircrafts it's your personal preference. Control response settings come down to the hardware youre using, not just the sim plane. This gives the user plenty of fine-tune control near the center of the flight control envelope to hold altitude and roll precisely, but still allows for full control authority at the extremes. With your flight controls plugged in and X-Plane running, you can configure how the simulator responds to input from each axis and button. The three sliders in this window control the response curves for the pitch, roll, and yaw axes of the joystick. I've played with the sliders and ended up with Control Response 0% for all axes and Stability Autmentation 100% for all axes. So does that mean the stability augmentation should be turned off for every FBW aircraft or can/should this be turned off for the other ones too? This will dampen any aircraft movements and desensitize the users controls. Hi guys, what is the setup that offers the best realism? we have null-zones/performance curves coming in v11.30! Hope this helps Glenn If you used the supplied Logitec software, you have to perform a complete deletion and ensure it is totally removed and then configure the joystick through X-Plane. It may work with other flight simulation packages eg P3D, but not too well with X-Plane, especially with XP11. I map a button on my nosewheel steering joystick that changes the output on the fly from low sensitivity to normal. As the XP help states "less realistic but easier to fly". It's probably accurately sensitive, but not the correct haptics. Hi @Assert, just for my understanding, does your screenshot suggest your ideal settings for this plane? The3hadow I don't know why this happens and it doesn't happen all of the time. Cheers. For an explanation of how these settings should work, see this section of the manual. The reason you may want to use more than one is because if you have a 4 engine plane like the B17 or DC-6, you have 4 throttles, 4 condition levers, 4 cowl flaps, possibly 4 mixture levels, so you run out of axes pretty quick because directInput supports 8 max per device. This makes flying not enjoyable because my hands will cramp from trying to barely hold the joystick so the plane will fly how i want it. For now, I would set them back to default 50%. Blessing the timeline, happy flying weekend to all. FD2S has a cheap-O Logitech 3D. Throughout this section we will refer to any input device as a joystick; the instructions apply to yokes, throttle quadrants, and rudders also. These settings have been put there by Laminar to try and work around the problems of lack of flight control feedback on a simulation that you get in real flight, and the lack of adequate amount control movement from stop to stop on some controls (like twisting a flight stick for yaw) to prevent over-controlling the aircraft.
